Fort Santiago

This national park is the oldest Spanish fortress in the Philippines boasting an abundance of beautiful fountains, gardens and plazas leading to its arched entrance. It is a magnificent structure which was built in 1571 and has great historical importance. Within the fort is the Rizal Shrine museum where the Philippines national hero Dr Rizal was imprisoned before his execution back in 1896.
